Selecting research

Just as there are many different reasons for engaging with research, research projects will be underpinned by different intentions and will produce very different kinds of findings. This means that different kinds of research will contribute to your professional thinking in different ways.

• What does it offer? Where does it stop short?

• How might this research report/article or summary speak to you? For example:

Through guidance on pedagogy or approach?
Insights into children’s experiences or cognitive development?
Critique of existing practices?
Imagining what might be desirable/possible?
Methods you might adapt to use in your own context?)

• How might this work connect to other research or professional experience/insights?
