Living Through Change in Challenging Neighbourhoods
How do the experiences of households living on low incomes in Britain differ according to space and time? What are the comparisons and contrasts in the experiences of people in deprived neighbourhoods, and the implications for the assumptions behind the policies designed to tackle poverty?
These are some of the issues tackled by a research team at Sheffield Hallam University's Centre for Regional Economic and Social Research, funded by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation.
Over a three year period, this project examined the changing circumstances and experiences of households living in six relatively deprived neighbourhoods across Britain, and sought to understand the experiences and perceptions of people in low income households.
