Tony Day

Tony is technical lead within the Centre of Excellence in Terrorism, Resilience, Intelligence & Organised Crime research (CENTRIC). He is also a senior software developer at CENTRIC. Tony has extensive experience in design and deployment of large scale security and policing related platforms. His primary research interest is in the application and impact of cutting edge and open source technologies within areas such as: security, humanitarian and environmental. Tony has been delivering technical solutions in the way of full-stack development throughout CENTRIC projects including the EU FP7 funded ePOOLICE and ATHENA projects which finished in 2015 and 2016 respectively. His main role in these projects was the full platform technical delivery, including dashboards, visualisation and data processing. More recently, Tony has been working on two Horizon 2020 projects: TENSOR, looking at the detection and monitoring of terrorist generated content in the surface and dark web; and ROBORDER, looking at the use of automated border monitoring sensors and vehicles. Tony is also playing a key role in the design and development of a personnel security project in an ongoing collaboration with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations Department of Safety & Security (UNDSS) known as SCAAN, the Security, Communication and Analysis Network.
