Government Facilities and Workplace Management Network

Welcome to the Government Network website. One of five Networks operating within CFMD, the Government Network was set up in 1997 to promote best practice in the management of local government office accommodation. It has now expanded to include several Government Departments/Agencies..

The sharing of best practice within the Network is facilitated by CFMD through an annual programme (pdf, 35.74KB) of five one-day workshops, an annual conference organised for all CFMD's Networks and three benchmarking projects. Network members can participate in the projects and send up to three delegates to each workshop/Conference. Non-members can pay a fee to attend individual workshops or the Conference but do not have access to the benchmarking project data.

The next event is the annual Networks Conference which will be held at Sheffild Hallam University on Thursday the 9th of September, the title of the conference is Embracing Change in Times of Uncertainty. Details will be made available shortly.

Other benefits of Network membership include

  • access to a members-only website, containing data from benchmarking projects and information about past workshops; a members contact list and other useful links
  • sharing in the findings of research projects carried out by CFMD's other Networks
  • benefiting, where appropriate, from knowledge that CFMD acquires on research projects commissioned by commercial clients or conducted by post-graduate students
  • a discount on the membership fee for CFMD's new Strategic Management Network
  • automatic qualification for reductions in the tuition fees on the unique MBA Programme in Facilities Management at Sheffield Hallam University, a course that has been designed to serve FM professionals in full time employment

The Network currently has 31 member institutions, and where applicable, 88 per cent were rated as 3 or 4 star in the 2006 comprehensive performance assessment.

Year 13 will begin in April 2010.For further information please download the information pack and the Network's brochure.
