EFQM Education Community of Practice

24 January 2003, St Gallen, Switzerland

The highlight of our meeting in St Gallen was the exploration of Leadership through music. Miha Pogacnik, Cultural Ambassador for Slovenia, took the group through Bach's Fuge in B Minor, illustrating how the mood and message of the music reflects the desired evolution of leadership style.

This meeting was hosted by our colleague Fritz Forrer, who is Director of the Institute of Quality Management at the University of Applied Sciences St.Gallen, Switzerland (FHS).

We focused on the subject of Leadership Styles in Education, receiving input from a range of speakers, which stimulated discussions and group work.

Speakers were:

  • Marianne Boeckli, University of Applied Sciences in Art and Design, Zurich
  • Andre Haynes, Lloyds TSB Quality in Education Programme
  • John Swanwick (PowerPoint 75.5KB), Open University Business School
