On Tuesday 18 March 2025, Sheffield Hallam University hosted the official launch of the AHP WRaP (Allied Health Professions Workforce Research Partnership) during a well-attended event at its campus. Led by Professor Julie Nightingale alongside partners from Anglia Ruskin, Lincoln, Sheffield, Suffolk, and NHS East of England, the project brings nearly £5 million of NIHR funding to strengthen allied health workforce planning—especially in rural, coastal, and underserved urban areas. Designed to co‑produce actionable research across 14 AHP professions, AHP WRaP aims to improve recruitment, retention, apprenticeship practices, and health‑economic planning over its first 18 months . The launch received coverage across multiple media outlets (see below), highlighting its ambition to address staff shortages, reduce waiting times, and support better patient care.
