What have we found so far?

Our Chief Investigator, Professor Julie Nightingale, presented our preliminary findings from workstream 2 (the analysis of national imaging workforce data from NHS trusts across England) to United Kingdom Imaging and Oncology (UKIO) Congress in June 2023, which enabled valuable links with important stakeholders to be made and the furthered the reach of this research. See the presentation slides that were delivered below:

Julie also delivered a talk to the Society and College of Radiographers’ Patient Advisory Group on the progress of the study so far, see slides below:

Professor Bev Snaith and Dr Sarah Etty were guests on the radiography podcast Imagin’ That where they discussed the I-SWAP project.

Dr Trudy Sevens and Dr Sarah Etty presented posters at the United Kingdom Imaging and Oncology (UKIO) Congress in June 2024. Below is the Sarah’s poster which presented the findings of the published scoping review on the support and assistant workforce across the Allied Health Professions but focused on the radiography literature only. See Sarah’s poster below.

The AHP wide scoping review can be found here, or seen and downloaded below:

A second scoping review has now been published, this time focusing on the support and assistant workforce in imaging specifically. This can be found here, or seen below:

Below is an article that communicates the findings of workstream 2, which was a census of diagnostic imaging staff data from Electronic Staff Records.

The below article discusses the combined findings from workstreams 3 & 4, which explored regional and hospital level perspectives on the deployment of Support Workers and Assistant Practitioners in diagnostic imaging.
