{"id":522,"date":"2024-12-31T15:34:06","date_gmt":"2024-12-31T15:34:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/research.shu.ac.uk\/sustainability\/?p=522"},"modified":"2025-09-26T15:38:34","modified_gmt":"2025-09-26T14:38:34","slug":"tomorrows-climate-scientists-researchers-page","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/research.shu.ac.uk\/sustainability\/2024\/12\/31\/tomorrows-climate-scientists-researchers-page\/","title":{"rendered":"Tomorrow&#8217;s Climate Scientists \u2013 researchers\u2019 page"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Royal Society Partnership Programme<\/strong> &#8211; <strong><em>cohort 2<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A programme funded by the Royal Society<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For researchers and university students: <\/strong>work with a primary school in South Yorkshire to investigate an age-appropriate theme of climate change and sustainability<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-b03b9d96eae105fce1caf6555ceb0835\"><strong>For information for schools, please see the <a href=\"https:\/\/research.shu.ac.uk\/sustainability\/2024\/12\/31\/tomorrows-climate-scientists\/\">schools&#8217; page.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Audience: <\/strong>Researchers and lecturers, undergraduate and postgraduate students in Sheffield Hallam University and University of Sheffield who have an interest in climate change and sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Research topics: <\/strong>Air quality, energy generation, energy efficiency, flood management and biodiversity (you do not need to be an expert in any of these topics to participate)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Programme outline<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>October 2025 &#8211; February 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>CPD researcher training <\/strong>\u2013 1-hour online training and 2-hour virtual workshop (delivered by the Climate Ambassadors programme)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>CPD with your allocated teacher <\/strong>\u2013&nbsp; 1 day face to face training and planning at Sheffield Hallam University (planned for Friday 17 October 2025)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>November 2025 -January 2026 <\/strong>(dates to be agreed between pair)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>3 in school activities with your teacher partner\/students (up to 2 hours)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 virtual activities with your teacher partner\/students (up to an hour)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ongoing support, as required from a mentor at SHU<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>January 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Information session to apply for further funding<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Researcher\/university student commitments<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To attend online and face to face training sessions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participate in 5 activities with their teacher partner<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meet with a mentor mid-programme<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Engage with surveys and evaluation of the programme<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Researchers will be asked to select preferred training dates and a preferred research topic on signing up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Researchers\/university students will&nbsp; be able to claim up \u00a375 for travel expenses, however we are unable to fund academic time.
