{"id":510,"date":"2024-12-31T15:16:31","date_gmt":"2024-12-31T15:16:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/research.shu.ac.uk\/sustainability\/?p=510"},"modified":"2025-09-21T19:02:47","modified_gmt":"2025-09-21T18:02:47","slug":"tomorrows-climate-scientists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/research.shu.ac.uk\/sustainability\/2024\/12\/31\/tomorrows-climate-scientists\/","title":{"rendered":"Tomorrow&#8217;s Climate Scientists &#8211; schools&#8217; page"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Royal Society Partnership Programme<em> &#8211; cohort 2<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A programme funded by the Royal Society<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For schools:<\/strong> Work with your students and a researcher from Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) or the University of Sheffield to investigate an age-appropriate theme of climate change and sustainability<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-7f2a79d8ab04c879927991dcd27ba7a4\" style=\"font-size:16px\"><strong>For information for researchers please see the <a href=\"https:\/\/research.shu.ac.uk\/sustainability\/2024\/12\/31\/tomorrows-climate-scientists-researchers-page\/\">researchers&#8217; page<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Audience: <\/strong>Primary school teachers (including infant and junior schools) in South Yorkshire<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Research topics: <\/strong>Air quality, energy generation, energy efficiency, flood management and biodiversity<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Programme<\/strong><strong> outline<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>October 2025 &#8211; February 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>November 2025 -January 2026 <\/strong>(dates to be agreed between pair)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>3 in school activities with your researcher and students (up to 2 hours)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 virtual activities with your researcher and students (up to an hour)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ongoing support, as required from a mentor at SHU<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>CPD with your allocated researcher <\/strong>\u2013\u00a0 1 day face to face training and planning at Sheffield Hallam University &#8211;<strong> taking place on Friday 17 October 2025<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>January 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Information session to apply for further funding<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>School commitments<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A member of staff to attend the training session<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participate in 5 activities with their class and researcher<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meet with a mentor mid-programme<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Engage with surveys and evaluation of the programme<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>School staff will be asked to select preferred training dates and research topic. We will endeavour to match you with a researcher interested in the same research topic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Schools will receive \u00a3300 to cover supply costs as well as project equipment loan.
