{"id":246,"date":"2023-11-21T14:27:31","date_gmt":"2023-11-21T14:27:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/research.shu.ac.uk\/sustainability\/?p=246"},"modified":"2023-11-21T14:27:31","modified_gmt":"2023-11-21T14:27:31","slug":"sheffield-sustainable-schools-network-and-showcasing-dobcroft-infant-schools-school-grounds-and-nature-journey-sheffield","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/research.shu.ac.uk\/sustainability\/2023\/11\/21\/sheffield-sustainable-schools-network-and-showcasing-dobcroft-infant-schools-school-grounds-and-nature-journey-sheffield\/","title":{"rendered":"Sheffield Sustainable Schools Network and showcasing Dobcroft Infant School\u2019s school grounds and nature journey, Sheffield"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>November saw the first face to face <a href=\"https:\/\/research.shu.ac.uk\/sustainability\/2023\/11\/15\/ecoteachmeet-resources\/\">#EcoTeachMeet<\/a> of the Sheffield Sustainable Schools Network at Dobcroft Infant School, Sheffield.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sheffield Sustainable Schools is an external network hosted by Sheffield Hallam University, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shu.ac.uk\/about-us\/academic-departments\/institute-of-education\">Institute of Education<\/a>. The network was established in September 2023 to support practitioners in Sheffield and the wider South Yorkshire area to facilitate quality sustainability and climate education from early years through to higher education.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The network aims to develop, facilitate, and bring together those interested in climate change and sustainability education. Over 30 school staff were able to listen Zoe Singh, Deputy Headteacher at Dobcroft Infant talk about the school grounds and nature journey as well as colleagues from Let\u2019s Go Zero, Eco-Schools and the Yorkshire and Humber officers from the National Nature Park.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"769\" src=\"https:\/\/research.shu.ac.uk\/sustainability\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/27\/2023\/11\/Picture4-1024x769.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-249\" srcset=\"https:\/\/research.shu.ac.uk\/sustainability\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/27\/2023\/11\/Picture4-1024x769.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/research.shu.ac.uk\/sustainability\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/27\/2023\/11\/Picture4-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/research.shu.ac.uk\/sustainability\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/27\/2023\/11\/Picture4-768x577.jpg 768w, https:\/\/research.shu.ac.uk\/sustainability\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/27\/2023\/11\/Picture4.jpg 1233w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The school has recently developed a large forest school area so that whole year groups could access the area. This initially involved governors and the Eco-team meeting with the local Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust.
