{"id":244,"date":"2023-08-03T13:25:50","date_gmt":"2023-08-03T12:25:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/research.shu.ac.uk\/psemc\/?page_id=244"},"modified":"2023-08-03T13:27:24","modified_gmt":"2023-08-03T12:27:24","slug":"about-the-project","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/research.shu.ac.uk\/psemc\/about-the-project\/","title":{"rendered":"About the project"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>Why has there been only limited sustained change towards the goal of all teachers being able to participate in high quality professional development throughout their careers?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We want to develop greater understanding of how to make sustained change happen in teacher professional development by looking at: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>the implementation of innovations and programmes in relation to policy and teacher entitlements; <\/li><li>the mechanisms and processes within the school environment which underpin change.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We aim to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>identify \u2018mechanisms for change\u2019 at policy levels and in school environments that influence implementation of professional development innovations;<\/li><li>develop implementation guidance, informed by the identified mechanisms, to support change for sustained, embedded improvement in teachers\u2019 professional development in England.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-background has-purple-background-color has-purple-color is-style-wide\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p><em>This study is funded by Wellcome (grant reference 224016\/Z\/21\/Z<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-background has-purple-background-color has-purple-color is-style-wide\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p>Our project webpage, on the Sheffield Hallam University website, is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shu.ac.uk\/sheffield-institute-education-research\/projects\/making-change-happen-in-teacher-professional-development\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Why has there been only limited sustained change towards the goal of all teachers being able to participate in high quality professional development throughout their careers?
