It is explained below or you can <a href=\"https:\/\/research.shu.ac.uk\/design4health\/conferences\/d4h24\/2024-style-guide\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"4454\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">download the pdf version<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>o Your abstract should describe the context of the research, questions addressed, how the research has been developed (including methods and findings), discussion and conclusions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>o Abstracts (not posters) will be double blind reviewed; IMPORTANT: please do not include your name or affiliation or any other identifying information in the abstract.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>o The language of the conference is English and all submissions should be in English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>o Spelling should follow English not American style, but with \u2018ize\u2019 for words such as organise, (not for words which keep \u2018ise\u2019 such as \u2018advertise\u2019).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>o References should use the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandf.co.uk\/journals\/authors\/style\/reference\/tf_ChicagoAD.pdf\">Chicago author-date<\/a>&nbsp;system of referencing (see below for examples). References, if included, are part of the overall word count of 1200 words. Only list references cited within your abstract.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>o The following unnumbered heading styles may be used:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Level 1 heading \u2013 Bold Initial Caps<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Level 2 heading \u2013 Bold Italic Initial Caps<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Level 3 heading \u2013 Non-bold Italic Initial Caps<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Level 4 heading \u2013 Non-bold Italic Initial Cap. Text runs on. All ranged left, numbers should not be included, no indent below.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>o Single quotes should be used, with double quotes for quotes within quotes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>o Numbers should be written in words for one to ten (e.g. \u2018ten\u2019) and in figures over ten (e.g. \u201812\u2019).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>o Foot notes may be used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>o Tables. Tables should present new information rather than duplicating what is in the text. Readers should be able to interpret the table without reference to the text.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>o Up to 6 figures may be included within your abstract. Please ensure that you have permission to use the images, and that all figures are numbered 1-6 and captioned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Referencing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We use the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandf.co.uk\/journals\/authors\/style\/reference\/tf_ChicagoAD.pdf\">Chicago author-date<\/a>&nbsp;system of referencing, using this guidance from Taylor &amp; Francis.  References are listed by author surname and then date. References, if included, are part of the overall word count of 1200 words. N.b. there is no comma before the year of publication. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;Langley and Tsoukas (2016) call this a \u2018configuration study\u2019 that focuses on mapping the flow of events&#8230;.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;While this work adopts a practice-based research approach, it complements other research on pandemic journaling (Wurtz, Willen, and Mason&nbsp;2022) and maternal journaling (Godfrey-Isaacs&nbsp;2021).&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>If a page number is included, it should follow a comma after the year of publication:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;In the UK, women of menopausal age are the fastest growing group in the workforce (United Kingdom Parliament&nbsp;2022, 3).&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>If quoting more than 3 authors, use &#8216;et al.&#8217;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;The concept of Mobile Medical Units has also been found to be very successful in providing health services to the poor and underserved areas of India (Kumar et&nbsp;al.&nbsp;2009).&#8221;<\/p>\n<cite><br><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>With thanks to the following articles published recently in Design For Health for the above examples:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wilke van Beest, Wouter P.
