Abigail is a researcher within the Centre of Excellence in Terrorism, Resilience, Intelligence and Organised Crime Research (CENTRIC) at Sheffield Hallam University and an Associate Lecturer for the Department of Computing working on several cyber security modules.Abigail graduated from the University of Huddersfield with a BA Hons in Business Studies, during which time she developed a keen interest in business and marketing analytics focussing particularly on personal data capture through social media applications and user understanding of privacy online. After completing her first degree she was accepted as the first full scholarship doctoral student of the Secure Societies Institute at the University of Huddersfield and continued to build on her knowledge and expand her research into personally identifiable information shared on social networking services with a particular focus on minors and parents.
Abigail has presented nationally and internationally at different security conferences including Jisc Cyber Security Conference, SecureWorld Seattle, and the BPS Cyber Security Conference. She is a regular guest on a few BBC show segments discussing relevant cyber security trending topics. She’s written several organisational cyber security training programs, media articles and small publications for a variety of different organisations.
