Lab4Living Launch party

Lab4Living’s launch party certainly went with a bang.  Researchers and lecturers from across the university were joined by students and service users at the official opening of the lab.   Visitors were invited to an introductory talk by Professor Paul Chamberlain and Gail Mountain who outlined the vision and the progress that has been made to date.  This was followed by the opportunity to explore and try out some of the equipment that is being used to offer new perspectives in the design process.

Professors Gail Mountain and Paul Chamberlain were congratulated by Jim Roddis, assistant dean for research and business development in the art and design research centre at the university for translating their vision into reality.

Julie Coleman, senior lecturer in occupational therapy said of the event, ‘there was so much energy and enthusiasm  in the room, it was wonderful.   This is an extremely exciting collaboration that has huge implications not only for the service users and carers but also for our students, the designers of the future.’
