I work somewhere on the borders between art, design, digital technologies and academic research and have exhibited interactive installations and digitally informed artworks that explore this space, at a number of international new media events, galleries and exhibitions. I hold a PhD from the College of Fine Arts at the University of New South Wales, which examined the theory and practice of mixed-reality art. I have an MA in Interactive Multimedia (MAIMM), jointly conferred by the University of Balears (UIB) in Spain, and the Royal College of Art (RCA) London, and a BA Hons in Communication Design from Manchester Metropolitan University. Originally from the UK, I have lived and worked in Australia and New Zealand for a number of years; this is where I began to develop my research/practice around augmented reality and the graphical user interface as creative/cultural artefact. Now back in the UK, my current role involves exploring new contexts and applications for visual communication design and information design forms in educational, not-for-profit environments such as healthcare and wellbeing.

Other areas of interest include hybrid creative practices, such as design for museum interaction, interactive installations and augmented reality for mobile devices and the development of augmented artefacts and location-based experiences. I am also interested in how we can incorporate visual communication design practices into interdisciplinary research teams.
