About me

I started my career in aerodynamics and heat transfer research. I worked for five years in naval, offshore, nuclear, theme park and fire safety engineering dynamics and modelling.

Talk to me about...

  • heat transfer
  • solar energy
  • photovoltaic cells
  • mass transfer
  • environmental contamination
  • ocean energy
  • fluid hazards
'My professional ethos is to accommodate the client in the best and most practicable way, to work collectively to achieve the best and most sustainable solutions and to encourage diversity and originality in energy problem-solving.'

I moved into teaching in 2001 and have also worked subsequently in aerospace research and education.

Currently I am interested in renewable energy systems modelling, in particular solar and ocean energy systems. My background in international research and consultancy has been immensely beneficial and I am keen to develop new projects with industry.

My work

My work has included multiphysical modelling using finite elements and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software. I have developed strong interests in fire modelling, solar energy heat transfer and also contamination modelling associated with energy plants. I have also worked on geothermal and geological waste disposal modelling and Science Park environmental problems.

I am presently interested in modelling projects concerning solar and photovoltaic energy cells, emissions, pollution simulation and also marine renewables e.g. tidal/wave/ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC).
