About me

First and foremost I am an engineer, with a background in mechanical, chemical, and process sectors, and over 10 years experience in delivering consultancy to a wide range of industries.

'Joined-up and whole system solution thinking is, in my opinion, how renewable energy can be applied as a truly sustainable solution.
'This prevents over-selling and miss-selling which is in danger of turning renewable energy devices into the 'betamax' of the 21st century. Basically you need to know, in detail, how this technology works to make it work for you - and this is where Hallam Energy come into their own.'

In addition to my role in Hallam Energy I lead the mechanical engineering subject group as a principal lecturer within the department of engineering and mathematics. I teach heat transfer, fluid flow, thermodynamics and energy management, and developed the BEng (Honours) Energy Engineering for Sustainability programme.

Finally I lead the Sheffield Hallam University Sustainability Hub, which enables Hallam Energy clients to access a range of services which extends beyond energy.

My work

My main role in Hallam Energy is in leading the team on engineers, to provide support and direction in the creation, execution, and delivery of their project. Because of this I find that I perform a multitude of tasks according to the needs of individual projects. For example, as a project manager keeping a project on track and monitoring delivery to time and cost, or as a technical specialist, applying my knowledge in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). This reflects the flexible, dynamic working environment and strong sense of team in Hallam Energy which one of the many ways that makes us strong and effective.
