Art and Design in Sheffield

The history of design education in Sheffield is long and distinguished. The first school of design was established in 1843, one of the oldest in the UK, to support the industries of Sheffield. Applied research at the Art and Design Research Centre in Sheffield Hallam University has continued to fill that supporting role and we are now also home to Design Futures, the University’s design consultancy group.
