When will I get an invitation letter?

During the first part of 2010, we wrote to people aged 40-64 living in Enhanced Public Health Programme areas of the city offering them a copy of the Get Active, Stay Active DVD and over 3,000 people replied. Due to the popularity of the DVD we are now writing to people living in other areas of Sheffield to offer them the DVD too. Due to the number of people living in Sheffield, some people may not receive an invite for some weeks. Below is a table showing when we will be writing to people in the different areas of the city to offer them their DVD. Areas will be added to this list as soon as we have a mailing date for them.

Residents of High Green should have received a letter in the summer (May-June 2009)

What if I lost my letter or changed my mind and want a copy of the DVD?

It doesn't matter - you can still get a copy of the DVD by e-mailing the Booster team at: booster@shu.ac.uk

Please remember, priority will be given to people aged 40-64years as this is the primary target of the Get Active, Stay Active DVD.

Why did you target the EPHP areas of the city first?

The Enhanced Public Health Programme areas of Sheffield have large, ethnically diverse populations, high levels of economic deprivation, low levels of physical activity, poorer health and shorter life expectancy.  The DVD was offered through general practices and community groups, as well as by postal invitation to ensure it is accessible to minority ethnic groups and those with lower levels of literacy. Sheffield City Council and Primary Care Trust fund a range of facilities and activities to promote physical activity and variations in access to these between neighbourhoods will make it possible to examine whether the effectiveness of the DVD is modified by access to community facilities.
